I am so blessed to have
grown up in the California Mother Lode area. By the age of
eight, fishing was one of my favorite things to do. I had
two ponds within hiking distance from the house, which gave
me many thrills catching bluegill, bass, and crappie.
My mother was a real help back then, as she realized my
passion for fishing. Usually, when I would ask her to drive
me to a lake, river, or stream for some trout fishing, she
was happy to.
Today, fifty years has gone by since those days, and I still
live close to where I grew up.
I have worked in Amador County for over forty years, and I
am still employed.
Solid Gold Fishing in The Mother Lode is the second book
I have authored, and Old School Basic Fishing was my first.
Old School Basic Fishing, a book for starting, simply
told what the basic must-dos are to consistently catch fish.
Solid gold Fishing in The Mother Lode is advanced: naming
locations; seasons; products that work; techniques; and a
bunch more good stuff!
Since my first book came out, to this time, I have done
fishing seminars, fishing shows, scouting, reporting, local
TV and radio, and became a part-time columnist. Well, my
knowledge of fishing continued to grow doing all those
fishing interviews for reports!
Fishing is still my favorite sport, and, believe me, I have
learned to catch fish quickly. Sure, it took a lifetime of
learning "only" what you need to do, otherwise I wasted too
much time and time is important.
I really enjoy fishing with friends, getting a half-day of
great entertainment and a few fish dinners, too. What a
sport huh? It does not get any better than fishing if you
ask me. I like to read about fishing, watch it on
television, and talk about fishing with people I don't even
know.
One day, back a couple of years ago, I wanted to become more
knowledgeable about our computer. I asked my teenage
daughter if the computer had a place for me to keep notes on
my fishing, and that is how I ended up writing fishing books
to help other fishermen.
